Design guidance for bicycling and walking projects – Corpus Christi, Texas

Designing a customized Bicycle Mobility Network through accessibility planning and community engagement. The Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) developed a 290-mile Bicycle Mobility Network for its greater metropolitan area. To prioritize investments for the right bicycling infrastructure in the right places and to maximize comfort, convenience, and safety for both bicycle-dependent commuters and casual riders alike, the MPO mapped key destinations, analyzed the road network, and made network design decisions based on stakeholder feedback. Revitalizing existing infrastructure to increase active mobility options in Corpus Christi, Texas

The Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization’s (MPO’s) Strategic Plan for Active Mobility, Phase I Bicycle Mobility Plan fosters cycling as a viable and safe transportation alternative for riders of diverse abilities. The Plan, adopted by the city of Corpus Christi in 2016, alleviates uncertainty about where the city should make investments in bicycle infrastructure and how it should design and maintain that infrastructure. The Plan prescribes a 290-mile Bicycle Mobility Network (bike network), which was developed with the bike-dependent commuter and causal recreational rider in mind—not the highspeed sport bicyclist.....continue reading, click link below.
