The Corpus Christi Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) is pleased to announce the 2018 Transportation Alternatives (TA) Set-Aside Program Call for Projects. The TA Set-Aside program is authorized under the current transportation bill - Fixing America’s Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act). The TA Set-Aside Program is similar to the former Transportation Alternatives, Transportation Enhancements, and Safe Routes to School programs.

Eligible projects include:

  1. Design and construction of on- and off-road pedestrian and bicycle facilities

  2. Design and construction of infrastructure projects to improve safe routes for non-drivers

  3. Design construction and of pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure to improve the ability of students to bike and walk to school

  4. Conversion and use of abandoned railroad corridors for trails for pedestrians, bicyclists or other non-motorized transportation user.

Funding is for projects within the MPO Boundary Area. Allowable project costs for the TA Set-Aside Program include design costs equaling up to 10% of total construction cost. For FY 2019 and FY 2020 a total of $1,160,000 is available through the MPO’s TA Set-Aside Program.

2018 TA Set-Aside Call for Projects closes at 5:00 pm, Central Standard Time, on December 13, 2017. The MPO must have nomination packages “in-hand” at the MPO offices by the December 13 deadline. A postmark by the deadline does not qualify as an on-time application.
